Nine Bullet Ants (Paraponera clavata) in a marching trail, real specimens in a tall black frame.
Frame size: 4" x 12".
The frame is double-pane glass with no backing board - the specimens sit between two panes of glass, so whatever is behind the frame shows through. The white background in the photos is our photo backdrop, not part of the frame.
The Bullet Ant is one of the largest ants in the world - workers reach about an inch long - and it is famous for the most painful sting of any insect, often compared to being shot, which is how it got its name. The ants here are arranged in a foraging trail, the way a column of workers moves through the rainforest.
Ethically scavenged: all of our butterflies and insects come from an insect sanctuary in Peru. Once they pass away naturally, they are gathered and framed - no creatures are harmed for these pieces.
Please note: each specimen is a natural, one-of-a-kind piece. The photos show a representative example of this frame, and the specimens you receive may vary slightly in size, coloring, or pattern from the ones pictured.
