The white background in the photos is our photo backdrop, not part of the frame.

One of the larger forest scorpions, this species comes from the rainforests of Southeast Asia, including Java, Indonesia. It hunts with its oversized claws - its sting is mild compared to most scorpions, so the claws do the work. Under ultraviolet blacklight, the whole scorpion glows: a natural compound in its exoskeleton fluoresces a bright blue-green under UV, a trait shared by all scorpions. Try it with a blacklight at home - it is quite a sight.

Ethically scavenged: all of our butterflies and insects come from an insect sanctuary in Peru. Once they pass away naturally, they are gathered and framed - no creatures are harmed for these pieces.

Please note: each specimen is a natural, one-of-a-kind piece. The photos show a representative example of this species, and the specimen you receive may vary slightly in size, coloring, or pattern from the one pictured.
